Description:
The certificate of proficiency in medical care on board ship (STCW VI/4) is designed for seafarers who have to provide medical care to the sick and injured while they remain on board ship.
The course takes full account of section A-VI/4 and Table A-VI/4-2 of the STCW Code adopted by the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978, as amended in 1995. Candidates successfully completing the course will be competent to participate effectively in co-ordinated schemes for medical assistance on ships at sea and to provide for the sick or injured with a satisfactory standard of medical care while they remain on board.
