The course aims to provide the trainees with introduction knowledge and understanding of basic theory and practical skills necessary for a Rating forming part of a navigational watch.

The course for Rating forming part of a navigational watch is designed for all candidates that want to become rating forming part of an navigational watch

Candidates successfully completing the course will be familiar with the basics of navigation and steering, understand the basics of COLREG, and watch keeping, be familiar with ship construction, safety at sea, actions to prevent injury, personal protective and other protective equipment, and about environmental protection.

Officers who would like to undertake this course must have approved seagoing service of not less than 6 months or appropriate seagoing service and knowledge of ship operations.

All trainees must be certified by doctor to be in good health.

The course takes full account of the detailed outline set in D.6. part of the Regulation on ranks and certification of seafarers (Official Gazette Montenegro number 55/2013)
