The course takes into consideration the recommendations of the sections STCW V/1, of the STCW Code adopted by the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978, as amended, but as well, industry guidelines, issued by organizations such as OCIMF and INTERTANKO. In addition, the course includes practical training in cargo handling using the Liquid Cargo Handling simulator. The course also aims to improve trainees’ awareness in importance of understanding various Tanker Commercial operation and business, various Charter parties’ forms and their requirements, various Charter parties’ clauses and Owners’ warrants, voyage orders and various tanker documentation requirements and procedures, as well as understanding of safe handling of cargo equipment and systems, specific dry dock requirements and learning from past experience and constant improvement.
The course is designated for Senior Deck Officers with previous experience on tanker vessels, as well as experienced Junior Deck Officers who previously completed the initial Specialized Oil Tanker Training, in order to facilitate their understanding in tanker commercial operation, business and management.
The course aims to provide trainees with the latest owners' general instructions, various updates in operators' cargo operation manuals, latest Charters', market and industry load and discharge port requirements and demands.
The course is open to Senior Deck Officers with previous experience on tanker vessels, as well as experienced Junior Deck Officers who previously completed the initial Specialized Oil Tanker Training.
